I have a Cinnamon GCC (Honey)
and a BCC (Conrad)AKA Connie
GCC (Jinx)
3x Goffin2 (Liam)(Mya)(Goose)
2x B&G Macaw (Cozzy)(Blue)
I have an 8 month old male, cinnamon GCC, I also have a 5 year old unknown sex black capped conure. The black cap is a rehome, has never laid eggs and loves my GCC. The GCC ha been trying to step on the black cap, he does it a lot. Standing next to one another at least once during the time together my GCC will put his leg on the black cap. Is this breeding behavior? Can they 2 even breed successfully? I dont particularily want to breed, but they love each other. Is this lack cap female if it has never laid eggs in its life?

Yes, a hen can go for years without laying eggs, especially with no male, although hens can also lay eggs without a male present, they will just not be viable. Since they are doing so much practicing, I'm pretty sure they will get it figured out & your BCC will probably lay eggs in the next few weeks.

Some times first timers don't produce fertile eggs either, but I would plan on hearing chirps somewhere in the future.....good luck.....

A GCC x BCC hybrid is known as a Black Forest Conure. They look quite similar to black capped conures with green(er) heads and bodies.

The two, if they are of opposite sex, are old enough to reproduce... question is, are you interested in breeding, and are you find with creating hybrids? Hybridization is highly frowned upon by many.

It sounds like you need to do some DNA testing to find out for sure. I can't say for sure if the stepping thing is mating or not, as it could be, but then it might not be. Hens can go their entire life without laying so it's no guarantee.

Im screwed. I really had no intentions of breeding, I just wanted Honey to have a friend. Connie (BCC) also once in a while will put his/her leg on Honey. Ill have them DNA tested next Friday. If they do breed, am I going to be able to find homes for these birds? or are they so frowned upon that they are worthless?

Perhaps they should have separate cages, next to each other. :)

Exchange any fertile eggs with dummy eggs, or hard boil them. Raising chicks is an enormous responsibility, and if you have no previous experience, there's lots and lots to learn before you'd be able to do it safely - you don't want to risk their lives by doing things wrong. And, to be honest, there are so many parrots out there in need of homes, and far too many being bred already. :) (not to mention, even though you might be able to find homes for them, finding GOOD homes will be more difficult)

If you do decide to try and they do manage to breed, I'd suggest that you let the parents raise their young by themselves (though you still need to know what you're doing, so I'd suggest finding a local mentor that can guide you through everything.

Not completely worthless that people wont want them. There are people out there who love hybrids and there are people out there who don't care one way or the other!

I still wouldn't recommend it.
