Need help with broken tail feather

Hi my 6mo old sun has a tail feather he snapped close to the base. sense the inside was white I cut it sense it was already broken but he just broke anothor one. Is it normal for them to break like that

It's pretty normal for young birds to break their tail feathers. As long as it's not bleeding, you can leave them well enough alone.

Like Monica says, babies aren't very good at keeping up with their tail feathers until they mature a bit and they would take much better care of their tail feathers most of the time. But that depends on the individual bird. BUT if they break it too close to the body or starts to chew on it, you need to yank it! Especially on the wings, I've seen that happen more with birds with clipped wings. They will chew them down to the base, have to yank it before it gets that short otherwise they will never molt out.
