Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
Do you have any first-hand knowledge of Bird Sanctuaries that would be good for an older conure. I'm not sending Pritti anywhere, but want to have a plan should it ever be needed. I already know who would and could care for him in a safe and loving forever home. But if something should happen and they are kidnapped by aliens or something, I want a beautiful, clean, happy, safe, healthy, warm, good-weather Sanctuary. I am setting aside funds for Pritti should this arrangement ever be needed. He's 30 and I have read that lifespans for Cherry-heads can go up to about 50, and I expect to be around at least till then, lol. But....

The Sanctuary I have initially chosen is in Florida, but I first have to make a visit to be sure it is the right place. But.... I live in Florida and not thirilled about Pritti living in a hurricane zone where he likely would not be evacuated due to logistics.

So, I'm thinking of places like Southern California, Arizona, Santa Fe area, parts of Texas, Southern Colorado.

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah... duh... earthquakes, fires, oh and volcanoes and floods... I've been so oriented to our annual 6-month hurricane season in the S.E. and the companion bird horrors from Katrina that I forgot about the others natural disasters.

Thank you all for the names of Sanctuaries. I'll start reading about them.

@grey782163 -- I am in South Florida.

The Oasis sanctuary in Arizona has an excellent reputation for how they house and treat their feathery residents. The Oasis Sanctuary - Home

I haven't visited there, but I believe they are in an area of the state where there are not a whole lot of trees around (the biggest natural disasters that happen in Arizona are forest fires). I'm sure they would be happy to answer any questions you have if you contact them.

I thought of the Oasis because they have some cherry headed conures there from the wild flock in San Francisco!
