Eating from our mouth

Is it bad for our sun conure to eat from our mouths? She likes to eat cooked plain rice from our mouths. A times, when she's in the mood, she will also poked her head into our mouth and kinda lick our teeth and lips. She is very affectionate and we enjoy the bonding time together but we have heard that our saliva isn't good for birds. Any advice, thanks.

Never let your bird eat food from your mouth or pick at your teeth.

Humans saliva contains bacteria that is potentially toxic to birds.

Antoinette is spot on, you can still give your bird 'dry' kisses, no saliva though.

Your are so correct all my kisses to Mishka are dry kisses
Sure many many guardians do exactly the same "kiss"

Definitely a no no, don't even feed food you've bitten into.

We can give our parrots selamonela and other dangerous gram negative bacteria.

Folks, thanks for all the replies. As you can tell by now, we are pretty new at this. Just had her for a year and had sent her to the vet for a check up last week because of an eye irritation. The vet also advised against that but more because they often scratch their backside with their beak.... Haha....

Thanks. She needs some coaxing but when she finally starts to bathe, she will not want to leave the shower head...she just loves water. Ends up collecting many pails of water for our plants.
