Hi! Im a new user and i only signed up bc my 1 yr old sun conure has been acting odd lately. He makes pigeon noises everytime he flies, it's pretty funny but i would like to know if it may be a sign of a lung infection or anything out of the norm. Theyres no pigeons at all by where i live...bringing me to this forum.
Thanks for any response! 😊

*hes had a bleeding wing for one day only (a week ago) and he woke up at the bottom of his cage 4 days ago.
:orange:

P.s. the closest avian vet is 2 hrs away and i wouldnt dream of sending him to a regular vet who barely knows about parrots

First off, conures, nor any parrot for that matter have lungs...they have air sacs.....

What caused the bleeding wing? What is this bird's diet? Does smoking go on in the house? Does smoking go on around the bird?

What kind of pigeon noises? Cooing? I have sun conures & really don't know what you're talking about.....

Parrots
A pair of cockatiels
And pair of African Greys
Can you maybe capture it on video, so we could understand better what are those noises?

Pigeon noises when he flies?

Do you mean the fluttering of the wings maybe? It's like this low ringing/ humming sound. My conure does the same thing when he flies. Before I had him I used to also think it was a sound pigeons made with their throat, until I heard the same thing from Boomer.

Edit: I just read the bleeding wing. I'm not sure what would cause that. Bite? Pulled feather?

Welcome to the forum.

Please, if you are concerned about your baby, take him to the avian vet. The 2 hour drive may very well safe his life IF he is sick and needs medical attention.

Maybe call the vet and see what they say? If he woke up on the floor of his cage recently, that is a bad sign. I'd be concerned.

I'm not sure about the noise though. Is it new? I am familiar with the noise the pigeons make.
