Last night I had to go into Petsmart to grab dog food and I try to avoid the poor birds there...it just breaks my heart. I had to detour and ended up going past the cutest gcc ever. Unlike most pet store birds, this little guy was active, rolling on his back playing, and in my head was screaming PICK ME! Wayyyy too cute...

Anyone want to be an accomplice so I can view and dash? I think I'm in better shape and can run faster than the employees...even with a bird backpack on! :21:

Sigh, I hate pet store chains and having such a weak spot for animals!

haha I know EXACTLY how you feel!! I've planned some master escape routes in my head. Unfortunately the chicken in me would flip out before I could even make my move. But is it just me or is Petco and Petsmart seriously over priced? I see so many conures sit at the store for months at a time. Most of them aggressive because they haven't been handled and eating crappy diets. Maybe it's because I live in Los Angeles (everythings a bit overpriced here)... I just wish they find good homes.

This little guy is "on sale" for $300. Since the bird is so friendly, the staff does play with him/her. That could be good or bad! Baby has been there a month...still overpriced IMO though.

I also know what you mean. Here in Indiana you can go into a pet store and see conures that look WAY to small to even be done hand feeding and they are asking $599 and up for them!! Wish they couldn't be sold in pet stores...would eliminate a lot of impulse buys and people spreading the wrong message/image/care info when it comes to caging, feeding, and supplies for birds.
