Aviator leash and harness for 2 year old green cheek conure :green2:/1 year old cockatiels ::grey: yellow1::
Good idea or bad idea? Wings are clipped but want it just so I can take them out more often. Do you guys own any? What are some good durable ones?
Any information would be helpful

Thanks!

Get the petite size, they look small but they fit well. Watch the DVD that comes with it, take your time, it could take a few months to acclimate them to the harness. A good tip I picked up here is to use a ponytail holder as practice for the neck part. The video show you the rest. Another thing that I found extremely helpful is to get a stuffed toy bird about the size of your birds and practice on the toy until you can do it in a few seconds. Good luck! :)

I've got two Feather Tethers and one Aviator. The Aviator is definitely better! I don't have any of my little birds trained to wear a harness, and only one bird actually wears one... and he prefers the Feather Tether... if it were up to me, I'd use the Aviator on him! But I've got a new girl to train and I think I'll put her in the Aviator instead!

I have taught all my bird to wear a harness using the hair tie as a intro to the head part. I can hold out a treat and every bird will put there head through to get it and happily much on snack as I adjust harness.

I have only had one bird harness trained (my current Blue Crown Conure) and I absolutely LOVE the aviator. He took to it quickly and he loves the freedom to go places with me.

Tuli has the Aviator in X-small. It's a little big on him, but I had read a recommendation from someone with a black-capped conure that it was much easier to get the x-small over their heads, so I went with that size.

It took me about a month of introducing it to him slowly, a little every day, before I could get it onto him for the first time, and he still freaks out a little when I first go to put it on him- and he especially hates the part where I have to tighten the buckle, but if I'm calm and patient I can get him into it with no problems, and he does like coming with me and exploring the world outside, so I think it's worth the extra effort.

Here's Tuli in his Aviator:

I bought one of the Avian Fashions flight suits for my GCC. I have to admit I became discouraged with the amount of fuss Chipper puts up when I try to put it on him. I like the idea of a diaper/harness in one, now it's a matter of trying to train Chipper to not hate the thing

I got a petite size for my green cheek but it looks like its too tight. Do you think that I should get an extra small just one size bigger. It even feels hard to put the head part around of my small stuffed birds. Do you think its a bad idea?:green2:

I've heard that it's easier to put the next size up on the aviator harness than what is recommended for the bird... you might try contacting the manufacturer and seeing if you can get it exchanged... or go through the vendor?

for my sun conure i got an extra small, i tried the larger size at a local bird store, and it was way to big, the store said the petite would fit, but it didn't, then the extra small was just right almost too small in the neck part, but shes a big sun conure, in my opinion. but if you have a store near you that sells them ask them to see it out so you get an idea of the size

I use the extra-small on my Hahns macaw and it fits him perfectly.

Here's a picture.

He took to it REALLY well, my other birds want nothing to do with it.
