Got my wife a SC for our 8 yr anniv. Wife had a cockatiel when she was younger and really just like birds in general. I am a little surprised at how much I like the bird. Pepi adjusted pretty fast, he's about 5 weeks old now. We've had Pepi only a week, but Pepi ate from day one. We could handle Pepi the 1st day but I can now see Pepi was nervous/scared compared to now. The last 4-5 days Pepi now greets us with a high squeek. Or the same sound when we leave the room. Its interesting. We cannot get Pepi to hop up on a finger yet but is easy to catch and once Pepi is on your chest seems pretty content playing with my beard or trying to "kiss". I read not to let them "kiss" on you, germs and all that. I figure Pepi is really wanting us to regurgitate food. Pepi is a interesting critter with a lot of personality in a small package. My father really liked parrots and now I see why. Just wanted to check in.

I'm a little concerned about you catching Pepi just because that could scare him and make him afraid of hands and maybe even you. Definitely keep working with the step up command. Share pics so we can see the cutie!

Will do on the step up. He's pretty funny and we know he likes to be with us once we have him as he can walk back to his cage if he wants to but is pretty content to play with my beard or ear ring. And always greets us when we come into the room and really makes a racket when we leave the room so we know he likes the company. Its the getting part that we are working on. I guess its time to bribe with apple, he loves pieces of apple. Get on the finger have some apple lol

Congrats on your new addition. Each bird is different, just read his body language. I can grab my green cheek and he's fine and never scared. So just keep interaction with him.

Pepi is really neat. I would not have considered myself a bird person before and
Pepi was really for my wife. But Pepi has taken a liking to me and calls out to me and is just hard not to like. We are "animal lovers" so its not that I did not like birds just had not interacted with them before. If I talk in a soft voice I get the same, soft little chirps back. Walk into the room or leave and Pepi screams. I am used to dogs and cats and did not expect similar behavior with a bird. The GC at the pet store was so friendly he'd lay on his back in your hands but was also 3 mos old. Pepi is only 5 weeks and warms up a little more everyday we have had him(?)
