Gilbert's Vacation--photos

Gilbert (and the rest of us) just returned from five days at the beach. He had so much fun and a few adventures. It was his first trip to all the shops in Bay Village (Beach Haven, NJ) and I forgot to bring him to Fantasy Island (amusement park--I think he would like all the action.)

Anyhow, he ate up all the attention he got and people were taking his pic and asking if they could feed him. He was so cute and funny, making happy babbling sounds when I showed him things in the shops.

Sometimes I can't get over how calm he is. Very little spooks him out. He just stands on my shoulder and looks around and chatters from time to time. No fuss. It's great, because it makes him so 'portable'!!! He has so many adventures......I probably sound corny but having him so young right now, I look forward to a whole lifetime of adventures with him. I can't even believe how much I love him, if that makes any sense!!

looks like it was a very fun vacation, i swear he is smiling in that first photo!

He is SO obviously happy when I bring him to the beach, so he may be smiling indeed!!

Thanks! His voice cracks me up sometimes. That thing he says that sounds like "you're such a good boy" and I just say "Yeah"...i'm not sure what that is but he says it a lot lately. I think it will suddenly clarify!
It is hard to run fast enough with that short leash but I am still kind of a control freak and like to 'keep him on a short leash' for my sanity / his safety. I really cramp his style!

He does look like he's smiling! What a lucky (good) boy he is to have you. I have no doubt that people couldn't resist him. Gilbert is beautiful and adorable!

I love seeing and reading about Gilbert's adventures! What is funny is that when I played the video of Gilbert talking, my Harley started talking to him!

I have no doubt Gilbert likes the beach! It is always nice when a bird is calm in public. Gilbert's voice is as cute as he is. I will have to learn to make videos of Captain Jack talking (he cracks me up).

OK, we had five more days at the beach. (These five were not nearly as enjoyable as last time--both weather and I was fighting illness and would have almost rather been home in bed!) Anyhow, Gilbert had some fun beach time. He even made me SO PROUD because this group of girls (maybe 12 years old) wanted to pet him so I said we would see how he felt about it. He was totally fine as they all took turns petting him. It was so cute. He also seemed to "show off" and fly for some people who liked him and landed on the guy. Here are pics I thought were especially cute! Some flying and some snuggling when it got too windy.

Such great photos and videos. Gilbert's voice is the cutest bird voice. Would love to hear some more. He has turned out to be a beautiful little guy and obviously has a wonderful life with you.

Geeze, it seems like I always miss all these photo posts....lol....Very nice vacation pictures! I miss the beach, I grew up close to the sea side so I used to go to the beach often when I was very young. In the past twenty something years I've only been to the beach twice, once in gulf shores and once in panama beach. I sure enjoy my time out there while I can. I went to the beach daily while there, tried to walk on the beach during night time like in the movies, but the sand fleas was everywhere and we ran back...lol

I once tried to sleep part of the night on the beach....like in a movie. It wasn't happening for me. I was also getting itchy and didn't like NOT being able to see what could be causing the itch (what exactly is crawling on me/biting me?) I walked back to a real bed at that point! For the past 10 yrs I have had the opportunity to go, with all my pets, and stay at my friend's house. So i don't take any fancy vacations but i definitely enjoy my time at the beach--and bringing the pets along makes it low stress and totally do-able!

Beautiful, beautiful pictures! Gilbert looks like he is having so much fun. I wish I could take my bird out on a harness but he hates that aviator harness with a passion. Thanks for sharing these!

I bring flashlight so I can see what's around....I don't like total darkness....lol
