Yellow Sided GCC Oliver (October 2009), and a Cinnamon GCC Mia (August 2013)
So I've been trying clicker training and she HATES the sound. It makes her really aggressive. I tried muffling it a lot but to no avail. I suppose I'll just use the word good or something but I really like how precise the clicker is. Anyways she bites when I put my hand in her vicinity and when I try to bribe her with food to step up sometimes she will bite my hand with a little squeal! It's kind of cute actually but not exactly what I want! I was surprised about her dislike of the clicker because when I taught Oliver he learned very quickly, granted he already trusted me a lot at that point.

Long story short she's been aggressive when a hand is put in front of her, but she really enjoys having people around. But then something awesome happened! I put a towel on her and she seemed to really enjoy it and let me pet her without trying to bite. In the towel still I took her to the bathroom and turned the water on in the sink with the stopper in to take a bath. She flew up onto the shower and obviously because of her dislike of hands didn't want me to help her down. Eventually after lots of cheering on she made it to the sink. But she wasn't comfortable flying in by myself so I offered my arm. To my surprise she jumped on and took a really short bath then got back on my arm. After this she let me pet her out of the towel and we came back into my room and hung out a bit!

I was really not expecting this at all but I do know baths make Oliver REALLY cuddly! I hope I've helped her gain some trust in me. Here's some pictures of the experience.

Inspecting the bath, she doesn't want my help haha

Suddenly my arm is good enough to step up onto!

Bath time over and she's letting me pet her without attacking me, progress :)

And here's both of us! I am still seriously shocked, she seemed to hate hands so much and all of the sudden it's okay to pet her? She still wont step up, I don't think she understands what I want yet. She probably just thinks I'm pushing her around.

Awe!!! She's so pretty! Good work! Maybe she was still scared and now she's finally realizing that you aren't gonna hurt her or try to scare her or whatever. She definitely is learning to trust you! There needs to be more bird owners like you. :)

Thanks! I hope so. I definitely think she'll still need a lot of work but it's nice to know how much a fun activity like a bath can put her in a good mood.

One thing that I think is really adorable is when I'm eating and Oliver eats his food while I'm eating mine, Mia's been doing this lately too :3

Jasmine my GCC will sit on my arm and step up onto a covered arm - no bare skin. She only time she sits on my finger is if I'm rescuing her from eg on top of a mirror and she doesn't know how to get down. Stroking she allows by my whole hand but is wary of fingers. But on my shoulder in my hair she is an absolute snuggle bunny so I figure its my fingers she doesn't like rather than me!!

wonderful. fun for all. now that she has are binky (security blanket) in the form of a towel, you have a secret tool.

P.S. I hate the sound of the clicker too, and if my bird was trying to train me with a clicker, I'd be mad too, lol.

Thank you so much guys! You are all so sweet!
Yeah I don't especially like the clicker sound either, I feel like the one I got is extra loud or something.
