Hello! I just moved my Green Cheek Conure, Zuko, into a much larger cage then what he was in before, which I assumed hey he would enjoy this! but He has never really enjoyed being in any sort of cage but he has been not sleeping very much or even in his bed while in the new cage even though we got him new toys and everything to make it seem like home, I feel that it might just because he is unhappy with his new neighbor Coco, our ducorps Cockatoo, but its odd to me because he has never not slept in his bed as well as it looks like his tailfeathers are out of place. Any ideas? I Dont know if I should put him back in a smaller cage or let him get used to it?

When birds are transitioned in to new environments, it may take days, weeks or even months for some birds to fully settle in. Trust me, your bird is still getting enough sleep and should still be eating and drinking, however his stress levels at the moment are a little high due to the move and the new environment, thus this can cause feather growth deformation which may be what your seeing. That being said, eventually your bird will start settling in and get used to his new environment. His old toys and you just being around should also help him settle in a little more.

Thank you! He still has his old toys, and even though I keep changing them out he still really has no interest in them, He really prefers to be out and on you and tends to throw little fits while he is in the cage until someone takes him out, mostly just running back and forth in the cage but yeeah. Thanks for the settling information though!
