I found a weird feather on this bird

Pepper's still strutting his stuff looking like Darth Maul, but I found the weirdest feather I've ever seen on him. I wish he'd sit still long enough for me to get a picture of it because I'd never dream of just tugging it off. It's on the back of his head just a few centimeters away from the edge of his black feathers. Half of it is yellow with a red tip and the other half is green. I've never even heard of this happening. Should I send Pepper to Professor Xavier's home for mutants before he develops a sonic screech?

Who knows what may be causing it, because Pepper is a hybrid you never really know whats going to show up

I'm not sure if he's a hybrid or some kind of mutation. I don't have any info on his lineage so whatever he is is a mystery. He's two years old now; the odd colors started coming out when he was around 6 months.

He has one light toenail on each foot and it's the longest front toe on both. His other nails are black.

Still don't believe he's a hybrid! But also don't know why his feathers are changing.

Patch, my new red throated conure has feathers that are half yellow and half red... the color only being separated by the quill. She had these(?) feathers since I got her, so I can't say it's new or not. In fact, I was surprised she even had yellow feathers! I knew she was red and green, but didn't know that she had yellow feathers... and then to find one that was molted and it was half yellow and half red, I just chucked it to an interesting looking feather!

Mine also has multi colored feathers...half red and half green in a few spots. It's pretty cool-looking.

Interesting looking Nanday....with all the selective breeding and inbreeding, it might be the start of the new coloration.
