Chip in Beak

Hello! I was just looking at my Green Cheek, and realized that he had a small chip in his beak, I feel that it might be from him trying to pick a fight with our cockatoo, It doesn't appear to be hurting him, but should I be doing something about it/bringing him to the vet?

I'm no expert but personally I'd be getting some antibiotics to stop any infection settling in

Those GCC will fight anything!

That is definitely not looking good, rather a deep "puncture"
I would take the bird to the vet a.s.a.p

Its not deep whatsoever, I've been keeping it clean and appears to have no affect on him, Since none of the vets around me take birds or are open until monday, I'll have to keep on eye on it.. Good thing I have the correct antibiotics at home.

A quick question - were these antibiotics prescribed for your bird, when and for what?

As Shelly already said, lucky your GCC still has a beak, your cockatoo could have just as easily killed him.

I understand pictures can be deceiving, but the injury DOES look pretty bad in the photo you posted.

Its an herbal antibiotic that was given to me by one of my friends who works with birds awhile back.

Its an herbal antibiotic that was given to me by one of my friends who works with birds awhile back.

A bird should NEVER take an antibiotic that was not prescribed for him EVER, UNLESS given by a veterinarian

Its not an antibiotic, Its a mix of natural herbs used for cleaning out the wound.

Please take your birdie to an avian vet as soon as they are available. Even if you have to pay the vet to tell you what you already know, it's better to get a professional opinion and they might even have something for pain, or some advice on how to keep it clean, diet (soft foods etc.), your bird could still be in pain and not show it. Would be kind to have some relief for him.

Its not an antibiotic, Its a mix of natural herbs used for cleaning out the wound.

You mentioned it is a herbal antibiotic, whether it is a herbal antibiotic or not an antibiotic, whatever medication is given to a bird should never been given to a bird UNLESS given by a vet.
