Lukah- Sun Conure, 10 months old!
Hey guys! I've noticed Lukah's urine to be yellow around his droppings. Apart from that, the droppings are normal- greenish brown feces and white urates. He is eating regularly (pellets mostly) and seems just as active with not other real signs of illness.

Anything that could cause this? Any thoughts? I know it's not normal.

I read a article called "poopology" on the website Avianweb.com, there they say yellow urates or urine can be a sign for fatty liver disease. Here's their article on fatty liver

Because his urates are white, and he seems fine watch him for a few days. If the urine continues to be yellow for several days you may want to consider bringing him in for testing. Every time I bring Rosie to the vet I have them do test specific for checking her liver function(bile acid test), I think it normally cost around $130, plus $65 for the office visit.

Has he been eating more seeds than normal (millet, nutriberries etc..)? Sometimes than can also turn their urine yellow....

Vary his diet a bit (sometimes their poops/pee can be discoloured by what they eat) and keep an eye for a day or two. It may go away on its own. If it persists, start with some basic testing as recommended previously in this thread.

He has mostly only been eating pellets and they are uncolored.. he seems too young to have a liver disease!

You may want to add to his diet. He shouldn't be eating mostly pellets (pellets have crushed seeds in them also). The majority of his diet should be fresh fruits and veggies, beans, grains, eggs etc.

Have you tried Sprouts? Very healthy and so much variety!!

I believe it is more diet related, however I am not a vet.

He usually gets fresh fruits and veggies every day but he has only been getting them every other day or every second day lately because I've been a busy, bad mom! I will make sure he gets them every day and see if that changes things!!:)

Wow! Thank you to those who got on me about Lukah's diet. Gave him his usual veggies and fruits and grains that he hasn't gotten the past couples of days and BAM urine is normal again!!! So happy :) That'll teach me not to slack on his veggies again!
