Heat source for sleeping cage?

My bird has been sleeping in a separate cage ever since I got her and I put blankets over it to make sure she doesn't get a draft. I used to live in the basement so she's used to it being cold but I have always wanted a way to keep her warmer at night.

I saw someone mention that they used a heat source for their birds sleeping cage, does anyone know what would work? I wouldn't want her to get to hot and stuffy but I definitely want her to be warmer at night.

Psittac, we use a heat mat for babies (15 Watt) but nothing for adult birds. I'm not sure how you'd use a heat mat in a cage (we put it in the bottom of an aquarium) and the cord would be vulnerable to chewing. I'd be a bit worried about using one of the heating globes for reptiles as they are VERY hot, and I'd hate to think of the electricity bill. The room birds were kept in at last house (and current one too) were airconditioned, but in much of Oz we're more worried about heat than cold.

I went to amazon and found this, I just don't think it will do her any good for sleeping. She likes to lay on something flat. I will get it for her daily cage just wish it was a sand perch.

What if I put something like this under her sleeping cage? It has blankets over it and might trap enough heat to make a difference.

I could put an electric heater in the room but that would be to expensive to heat the whole room. Maybe an electric blanket over her cage?

I would have to get one of her backup small cages and put a thermometer inside the cage over night and measure the high and low temp.

With Felix going through such a tough molt my vet suggested he sleep in his travel carrier ....which is just a dog carrier for a small dog with a cactus perch screwed on, a small ladder, and two baby recieving blankets folded one on top of the other on the bottom and of course two small dishes for food and water and for the heat source she suggested putting a cutting board down with a heating pad on top then place two risers on either end of the heating pad that is on top of the cutting board (I use two wooden coasters) And place the carrier on top of the risers...It's been working great....Felix loves sleeping in it....it is important that you never turn the heating pad higher than low tho....the risers keep it from getting too hot but Felix is nice and cozy...he snugges between the two receiving blankets now and some mornings I have to dig around to find him...

I have Avitech heat panels for both of mine...love them. You can get the optional thermostat with it so it comes on/goes off depending on the temp you set.

I like the heated perches, above. Price looks good in US, checked on prices here, double, in AUD!

I ended up putting an electric blanket over her cage with blankets ontop of that. I only have it on 2 of 10 and really dont want her to get to hot.

I am getting a heated perch for an early christmas present so she can stay warm during the day.
