Dusty: Dusky Conure
Anyone want to share experiences that you have had with your bird? I know we all have special things we do with our birds that really bring us close to them.

One of my bonding experiences are:

Dusty, my Dusky conure, loves to go outdoors. When the weather is really nice I hook him up in his harness and bring his outside. He gets super Chatty. Its the one time when he doesn't try to bite my dad.

My family goes RV camping every summer and being that I dont really trust Dusty around many of my friends or neighbors he comes with me. I have a small cage that he stays in for the camping trip. Being that the cage is so small and that Dusty likes the outdoors. He spents a lot of his time on these trips one his harness outside with me. Night time is the only time he spends in the small travel cage.

Bringing Dusty outside I feel relaxes us both. Dusty gets some crazy attitudes when he is stuck in my house for long times.Winter is the worst!!!

Please share your experiences!!! I'd love to hear them

One of my bonding experiences are
Mishka my AG, must have lap time every night. I call it bonding time.
After dinner, every night, she sits on my lap for about an hour.
We chat, play and spend quality time together.
I take this time to teach her new words and sentences.
By the next morning, she is saying new words etc.
If for some reason, I am running late, she starts flapping her wings, and squeaking, then says mommy come here come here.
Last night I taught her to dance dance, and turn.
This morning she sat on her feeding perch, said dance dance and started dancing and turning.
Look forward to hearing other members bonding experiences.
Take care

That is adorable. My conure dances and sings when I turn the radio on. Its cute. He really likes the band "Boston". He will whistle to the tune and start dancing.

My Alexandrine, Max, was very wary of us when we first got him. He was only 7 months old and I think he loved his orignal person very much. It's taken some time, but with patience and gentleness, he loves me now.

He hears the garage door open when I get home from work. As soon as I open my car door I can hear him calling for me. He keeps calling - more insistantly as time goes on - until I go up to the office and open his cage door. Although he loves me, he likes to play a little hard to get and makes me wait before he comes out of his cage and is ready to help me make dinner.

This past weekend, we were away from home running errands for most of the day on Saturday. On Sunday morning, my eldest son got Max out of his cage to spend the day with the rest of the family. I had some things to do in the kitchen so Max was in the living room. He kept calling out and I asked my son to get Max from his perch and put him on his shoulder. My son said, "He's been on my shoulder since he came downstaris. He wants you." So, Max helped me make cheesecake then helpled clean the kitchen - well, he supervised. He didn't make a peep the rest of the day - as long as he was with me.

Dusty also knows my car when it comes into the driveway. I can often hear him from outside.

Thank you for sharing your experience!
