Stupid people...

While I was in the bird store yesterday getting food, I went into the bird room as I always do. There was the sweetest gold capped conure sitting on one of the perches. I went over to pick him up and he immediately nestled into my hand and closed his eyes as I gave him scritches.

I asked the manager what his story was. She told me that his owner traded him in for another bird there because he wanted to be with her too much; that he was way too needy for her. WT???? She exchanged him for an Alexandrine. I wonder what she'll do when this new bird nips her or something.

I'm tempted to return for this bird, but I know that my family would kill me if I brought home an eighth.

If that woman doesn't want a bird that is too needy, perhaps she should get a nice stuffed one.

if you got 'that' feeling' and you know you may regret not getting him.....then..... well....8 is a great number!

remember I had Ninja, my GCC, to this day I miss him so much. he was such a gentle sweet bird, not to mention the most breathtaking colours!....if you remember I had to re-home him-he was just too loud for my son to take. it broke my heart to let him go.

he's in a great home and the owner takes him everywhere, and is madly in love with him.

That's awful!! I love that my bird wants my attention all the time!! and as someone said above if u already have seven no ones gna notice anva one and he does sound like a sweetheart the poor thing

Funny you should say that, because I went back yesterday to see him. Poor thing is inside a cage that's in a dark area. He was puffed up and looked sleepy. I couldn't decide if he was napping or if he actually wasn't feeling well.

I'm actually pondering bringing him home, but don't want to take any chances just in case he's getting sick.

I'm running out of real estate in my dining room, which is where all my birds' cages are. My family could disown me if I came home with another bird!:52:

Could you get him checked by a vet before bringing him home?

That was going to be my suggestion. Tell the shop you want him to see a vet before you commit, make the appt, and if he checks out bring him home.

aw! Poor baby! I feel like the conure would be a better bird for her then an Alex! I hope you can get this little baby! And maybe it was just sleepy and maybe a vet visit would be good.

If he's still available next week, and if I think I can squeeze another cage into our dining room, I might just have to go back to get him. Have a few things coming up financially, which might prevent me from getting him. One of my dogs needs a trip to the vets, and my car needs servicing. So...we shall see...

Aw the poor little guy left in that pet store it seems horrible from what you've said. But you are right you have also got to think of your family and your other birds you don't want to chance making them sick but getting him checked out by a vet seems like a good idea

That lady must be nuts not wanting a bird that's so loving! BUT you know sometimes when they become overly attached they'll start screaming when they're not being held and such. At the same time they should be taught to entertain themselves while not being out. But I'm not a conure lover as I used to have two of them that drove me up the walls....lol
