Monster started plucking on me again! The little brat.. the second he gets feathers coming in he plucks them out for some reason or another. I gave him a bath and some aloe spray for itching, took him out to hang on the stand in hopes he was just a little bored...no go he plucked his feathers while sitting in the living room with us. I know he is getting feathers in right now so part of it may be irritation but I think the other part is that he is in love with Monkey. The worst case of puppy love I have ever seen
I decided today to move him into Monkeys cage to live with her in hopes that it helps him. He is such a nervous bird that I think the only way he will relax and be comfortable is if he is caged with Monkey. Monkey is also in the top tier so he will now be able to see the whole room from a literal birds eye view They have always visited each others cages since I would just open the door to their cages and let them wander when I was hanging out in my room. They have settled in right away so far. Monkey accepted his presence without any fanfare and Monster immediately started eating and making a mess out of the water by dunking food. I moved his tent into Monkeys cage and he was already using it like he had always been in Monkeys cage. And the best part no feathers on the floor of the cage so far.
Now the only thing I have to worry about is breeding and egg binding with my female....right no biggie:52: Monkey is now on Raspberry Leaf for calcium and egg binding. Monster will be put on Red Clover for plucking when it comes in. They have an earlier bed time.
I'm worried about the binding and mating of course but at the rate Monkey was going she was going to lay whether she was caged with him or not. I plan on seperating them if this move does not stop Monsters issues but am I risking my female too much with this move??? I feel like this is the only way to make Monster happy but now I feel like I'm sacrificing Monkey a little:20:Wasn't Folger supposed to be the problem child:headwall:
