What kind of display is this?

I haven't managed to get it on video - but Aleta does a weird display when she sees herself in the mirror. She doesn't seem aggrivated, but she always showing off. She will start to lean forward and then spread her wings like she was losing her balance. Then she will stand up straight again, and a moment later do it again. I don't know if she is trying to attract the "other bird" or to show this is her turf and the "other bird" should back off. She will only do this in the mirror, she doesn't do it any other time that I've seen. Anyone have some thoughts?

Edit: She may not actually be a she, if that makes any difference. :)

I could be wrong, but it sounds like a mating dance to me:)
After all, that birdie in the mirror is so gorgeous, how could Aleta keep from being attracted?

Thats what it looks like to me, but would she be able to tell if the other bird was the same sex as her? Or do that know based on smells? I know we can't tell, but how do they know? :D All these silly questions!

I would imagine that she just thinks it is another bird.
Sometimes 2 of my male zebras will display to each other, I am not sure why that happens.
And no question is silly:) I just wish I had better answers...hopefully someone with more experience will jump in:)

It seems like a mating behavior to me too. My GCC would puff up, attack mirror and even make aggressive screams first, but now he knows it's him in the mirror and just lazily nibbles on his reflection sometimes. And he looks at me in the mirror - right into my eyes. So I guess he knows it is just a mirror. :)
Your birds seems like fun - I wish I could see her doing that! :)

We tried to take a video, but she is so camera shy! As soon as she sees it, she stops doing everything and just sits there. It's rather amusing to watch, so as long as it is not upsetting her, I'm not worried about it. :)

Haha, I know! :D I've been trying to take a pic of Parry laying in my palm on his back, but the moment I take the camera he jumps up. :) You probably need to get a hidden camera. LOL
