Need some help....

This is going to be long lol.

First off i have my amazing sun conure Pita, right now i am home all day due to being on maternity leave. We live in an apartment ( i know i know conure in an apartment but he was good) previously i lived with my mom in a bedroom in the basement he was so good. Well we moved out 2 1/2 years ago and i would say for over a year the screaming is just crazy. I find myself tiptoeing around the because if he hears me he will probably scream and scream and scream, I never go in the room when he is screaming and if he is out and screams i ignore him, it just doesnt seem to be working. I know that as a conure he will have his loud moments but like i said i spend all day hoping he doesn't hear me and in a one bedroom apartment this is very very hard. I play the radio he has tons of toys and is out of his cage for a better part of the day. Im at my wits end and with a baby coming its even harder. Please help.

Has Pita been to an avian vet lately?

Yup he goes once every 6 months for a check up. His weight is fine and eating properly.

I'm sure that others will do a better job providing some advice... but here are some other questions that might help them:

1. How much sleep does Pita get? Is it in a quiet place with no distractions?
2. Do you offer positive reinforcement when Pita is quiet?
3. What type of diet are you feeding Pita?
4. I also wonder if it could be hormonal... how much "cuddle" time do you have? Does Pita have any dark, small places to hide in?

He is in my bedroom with the door closed he gets about 12 hours

2. Do you offer positive reinforcement when Pita is quiet?
Yes when he is quiet i go in talk to him bring him out of his cage i cant do it everytime he is quiet but i try when he has had an episode of freaking out to wait about 5 mins of quiet then give him positive reinforcement.

3. What type of diet are you feeding Pita?
Pita is on the Zupreem pellets, fresh veggies fruit everyday and a birdy bread. And once in awhile seeds as a treat.

4. I also wonder if it could be hormonal... how much "cuddle" time do you have? Does Pita have any dark, small places to hide in?
He went through his hormonal months starting in Jan, was over by Feb'ish he is always cuddling with me his is not the most independent bird. small dark places like in his cage? Nope should there be? i tried a fabric tent thing he just sat on the top didnt want anything to do with it lol.

Hello Parkep: When a parrot screams it is a way of communication with the flock. I suggest you keep a log of the times the bird is screaming for a few weeks and then look for patterns. What was going on, who was in the room or who was out of the room and so on. Bird may feel left out of the flock activities (do you have a parrot stand?) or jealous. Could be bird is hungry or bored or lonely. There are so many reasons it is best to keep a log to determine the cause. Could be a lack of full spectrum sunlight. I could go on and on with the reasons. I am sending a helpful link to you and hope you can solve the issue.
