RIP Paco, Jack, and Echo </3
So today just like I said one day things would...everything fell into place. I had saved a small amount of money to put toward my "parrot fund" and I met up with my dad today and he gave me $50 for Easter. I emailed a breeder who is very close to me early this morning to see what she had. She invited me over to see her babies. I was going to see the pineapple and red factor pineapple babies. She was extremely nice and I spent a long time at her house. My only problem is that she clips her babies wings after they learn to fly. I was not impressed with the pineapple babies that were jumping off me and splatting on the floor, lol. So she showed me a bird that she was holding back because it was nippy and older. The breeder really liked this bird and thought I might be a good match for her since she is a tougher case. She is a DNA'd female cinnamon green cheek conure who was the only one that was not clipped. She was a great flier and despite her rough nipping I decided on her. She had a rough ride home and got car sick. I've seen this in birds before so now I know not to take her in the car. I put her in her temporary cage to take a breather and went off to the stores to get toys and food with the remaining money I had since she was so fairly priced. I got a few toys, nutriberries, pellets, and millet spray. When I came back home and took her out I discovered that she is a lot smarter than I thought. She doesn't just fly around, she will come when you call her and even turn around mid-flight if you tell her not to land on something. She isn't nipping right now at all and is currently up on my shoulder sleeping. She is willing to try (and eat) almost anything I give her and has a huge appetite! When she does try to nip me I just distract her and she forgets what she was doing. She is actually playing with her toys and ate a full helping of food as soon as we got home. I don't have a name for her yet but I want it to be something extraordinary! I can't post a picture until my phone charges a little. I am very happy with my new baby. She may not be what I had in mind originally but her outgoing personality is just what I wanted. She was a really easy to clicker train since she will take food so enthusiastically. I will post pictures tonight!
