I was looking at bird adverts on various websites and found a breeder of Green Cheeks nearby, so I thought I would go see them since there is hardly any birds near me. The breeder had one yellow sided GCC left so I decided to take him home.

He is VERY sweet and affectionate and only seven weeks old. I have decided to call him Merle.



















He is a great flyer, and he eats anything. So far he has ate kale, apple, red grapes, pomegranate, sweetcorn, red bell pepper, soaked seed, cucumber and some other stuff I'm forgetting.

He loves it if you put the palm of your hand on his back and scratch his head.

Wow! Congratulations!!!

Merle is absolutely ADORABLE!! And what a GREAT name to boot!

We've been owned by our yellow sided green cheek conure, Franklin for 3 years now. I can't imagine life without him. He has been the MOST FUN of all the birds we have. We also got Franklin when he was very young, 10 weeks I believe. Franklin was an impulse buy from our local pet store.

He picked us, and we've never ever regretted it.

What a cutie. His colors are so beautiful!! (And so different from my YSGCC!!) It's so cool how no two birds look or act the same.
He's got a wonderful home! I know he'll bring tons of smiles and cuddles.

Congrats! on Merle he is adorable.

Apollo my YSGCC loves my hand on his back also. He likes to scratch his own head or just hang out on one foot. I usually get a don't touch me nip when I try to scratch his head.

Wow he's so cute and beautiful! I'm curious how did you come up with that name? I'm from Estonia, and Merle is a very common female name there.

My other Green Cheek, Cookie, hates being touched, so it makes a nice change to have a bird that actually likes it.

I will post some more pictures of him soon.

I wanted a bird related name, so I thought the name Merle was perfect since it means Blackbird. I like the name anyway though.
