Ok the cage is set up! But what is the best, least stressful way to introduce my 12 week GCC to my home and new cage?? Should i leave him alone for a few days or play with him? leave him in a quiet room? I have four noisy dogs. What should i expect from him? I've never had a baby bird before so i don't want to start off on the wrong foot. We've been to play with him every day at the pet store and he's not a shy bird and he seems to like us. we've taken all the kids to meet him except the dogs of course. Hope these don't sound like stupid questions. Ive been researching a lot on the web but its the small things you don't read about.

Firstly, congratulations!!
Really, you'll have to see how he does and go from there! :D
If he is scared, timid, and wants to hide in his cage, give him a little bit of space. (But don't just leave him alone for days at a time- then you get a perch potato who's protective of his cage!)
Likely he'll be curious and wanting to spend time with you. Make his cage fun, have your hands in there(if he isn't afraid) and play with his toys, give him treats while he's in his cage, etc. The cage is a fun place, not a bad place!
Just make sure that while he will likely want to spend time with everyone, also teach him how to play/forage independently in his cage. So if he has to spend any longer-than-normal period of time there, he's less likely to stress/become bored because he's so dependent on humans for stimulation. :)

Congratulations!!
I suggest you place him in a room for like 2 days or 3 days (Be sure to interact with him a little bit meantime)So he gets adjusted to the area around him.

And then you can start everything else :)

Congrats on your new baby! Like others have said, you'll have to see how he is when you bring him home! Both of my conures I've brought home have been very curious and wanted to be out of their cage even in the first few days of being home, so that's what we did! Even if your baby is like that though you do want to help him get used to his new home and show him how fun his toys are and where his food and water is. Maybe just have him in the cage and sit in the same room and read a book while he explores? I feel like every bird is different and you just kinda go with what happens! Just pay attention to what they are trying to tell you! It's also normal for them not to eat very well for a day or two because of the stress of moving to a new home. Indy didn't eat for almost two days and then was fine after that. Can't wait to see pics of your new baby!

I'm so excited for you. Spend time with it if it will let you. Just sit in the room and watch him if that's all he will let you do. My experience has been to wait on the dog but then again I have 3 cats that rule the house. :D My new birds ate right away with hungry appetites so just go with what works with the bird. By asking the questions it shows you know what to watch for. If you see him stressed back off. Be flexible.

Omg! we couldn't believe our eyes. He just jumped in his cage and started to play around in his cage like an excited kid. He went to every toy and tried it out. We put our hands in and scratched him and fed him seeds. He came out and ate a slice of apple very slowly taking tiny bites lol. He/she was chuntering and even kissing us, no bites. He was listening to the birds outside and he was very interested in the dogs. The little dogs sat in a row watching him. The big dogs have seen it all before and didn't care. Ive been up since 8 and its 11:15am still in my PJs he's a little comic. I will try upload some pics. thanks for all the info.
