Pancake! A Green Cheek, Yellow Sided Conure
So I got my 1 year old conure 7 days ago and just wanted to go through a few things just to make sure everything is going well and how I can improve our relationship. Just a head up, my writing may read weird since I don't know whether it's a boy or girl yet.

So his/her name is Pancake. I wanted to wait a week or so for Pancake to get adjusted before I go get the DNA test to see whether it's a he or she. Is a week long enough or should I wait another week? Pancake seems to be adjusting pretty well.

Pancake is pretty chill attitude wise but it very active and playful. Love, love, loves pets. I helped pick out his/her pins (was molting when I got him/her.) so is extremely comfortable with hands. Dances when I sing or play fun music. Will easily take baths (I put a flat bowl in the bottom of his/her cage.)

Will come curl up in my hand with my thumb and index around the neck and will shake or vibrate (not sure how to describe it but it seems like a good thing) and make purr noises and clicks.

The only thing that Pancake is weary about is stepping up. Once he/she is on a finger it's okay but it's the getting on part. He/she is ready to hop on when getting out of his/her home but after that it's iffy. We worked on it a little bit with an orange but I have a feeling we need to work on it in a different room. I don't know whether it's an independence thing or a trust thing. But tips would be great. I don't want to do too much too soon you know? But I don't want to wait too long either.

I just feel bad taking him away from the things he just newly got comfortable with too soon and then losing that confidence.

I've owned dogs, cats, and a great hamster but never really a bird (I've just been visiting and learning until I had enough time, which is now) so I'm a little newer to them so anything would help!
