Hi I am new here and just got a Green Cheek Conure. He is 3 months. He eats good and visit his water dish. He has become very nippy I mean biting alot. We try telling him no bite and place him in cage or on floor. My daughter has become afraid which i'm sure aggravates the situation. Any suggestions?

I think it is pretty normal for very young GCCs to be nippy. Kind of part of the territory..

How recently did you get him? You might be rushing bonding time causing him to feel uncomfortable and bite. If you just got him he might just be nervous and defensive. Don't pressure him to bond with you guys and let him come to you by offering treats or just sitting near them. GCCs are curious birds and they will want to know what you are up to eventually:)

My two were never nippy when little it was when they reached maturity that they really started testing their boundaries. They are a wonderful bonded pair now but I definitely remember a few times where I wondered what I was thinking:D

Hello Sunflower, Welcome to the forum and Congratulations on your GCC!! At only three months your little guy is probably using his beak to explore his environment. Baby parrots tend to approach everything beak first for a while. If your daughter is showing fear your GCC may see the drama as a reward and repeat the nips. It's a good time to start some pressure training so he develops good habits from the start. What is your GCC's name? We'd love to see photos.
