I am a new Yellow sided conure 10 weeks old baby owner. Previous owner was feeding it regular seeds, apples and potatoes from time to time. I brought "Zeus" (name not decided yet) home last night and had seeds and fresh warm water for him. I also fed him some watermelon and he absolutely LOVES it.

I wanna know if there is anything I should know about training Zeus or any tips on what else to feed him.

This is also my first official post on this forum. :):rainbow1:

Hi and welcome! I would start switching to pellets and not too much seed. Keep trying different veggies and fruit. Congrats on your new addition...post pics when you can.

Many birds are curious and are willing to try new foods, while other need to be shown a food is good to eat, actually chicks learn to eat foods by watching what their flock mates eat. so if you want to get your new feathered friend to eat new foods that (s)he may be balking at, showing him/her by your eating the food(s) while making a big deal about it often gets them at least curious to try something.....everyone doesn't always have success with eating things in front of their birds.....maybe it's really that they are not that good at dramatic presentations ? ? ?

Others will chime in & offer more tips.....
