So i am part of this group on facebook where you can trade stuff that you know no one will pay for but trade for food, and other small items.
Well i traded for some of those birdy candy sticks, she had budgies, and we started to talk about them when she came to trade and when i told her mine would only get about 1 a month or so,she called my green cheeks pitiful that they had an owner as me...my birds get organic pellets and seeds, fresh greens and fruits everyday....when i told her that she looked like i was crazy.
Guess she never looked up how to care for hers.
I know it might not look like much written put you should have seen the attitude she got instantly when i told her.
she went away shaking her head mournfully for my birds.

I would've told her I'm glad I took the candy sticks from her because it seems like her birds get one whenever they feel like it, or ask her if she knows whose birds are healthier! Then slam the door in her face. But I'm also a slightly more sarcastic/violent person towards stupid people than most. You're birds are not pitiful. They have a fantastic owner!

I'm sure your birds probably would choose candy sticks over healthy nutritious food if given the option. They're birds and do not understand the concept of nutrition contributing to good health and long life and I'm sure the candy sticks taste better than a green bean to them.

Thankfully, your birds have an excellent owner who DOES understand that candy is not a dietary staple and feeds them the best diet possible (and even gives them treat every once in a while!):) Unlike your healthy, active birds, this ladies poor birds are likely in poor health and suffering the same kind of problems people who eat too much junk food do...

Thank you for your nice replies,
Truthfully i don't even buy those sticks i just trade items for them,so if i don't have anything to trade they don't get them.
That's not to say they don't get treats i do have birdy jelly cups.
Right now i am set for a few months:p

Because when I see a human child eating veggies I automatically think: Wow, what evil parents! They should have their children taken away so that people like me can feed them only junk food! No child should ever be forced to have a healthy immune system! The only way to show love is through instant gratification that will leave my child obese and disease-ridden, and don't forget feeling just plain yucky all the time!

Kind of the human equivalent. Oh wait, am I ranting??? Sorry, I see this all too often in too many species. People need to engage their brains. Good on you for being a responsible parront.

What???? Oh you terrible person! How dare you give your birds all the nutrition they need and not give them tons of cookies???? Look at them! How healthy they all look! WHAT? You are a great bird owner! She must have issues....

Sociopaths do that. They put down everyone and their things, whether it be animals or material stuff, just so they can look better in their own eyes. Very sad for her. I try really hard to feed myself, family and animals as best as I could. This forum has helped me tremendously with my birds needs. We all know you are doing a great job with your birds. Keep it up :)

Your babies know better than someone on the internet :) Especially if all they know about their care is the feed you bought...

Truthfully there's nothing wrong with being strict about your bird diet. The way I see it there is food and there are treats. If you over do it with treats they cease to be treats.
My conure loves the millet sticks, but I try not to over do it because if I give it to much he's going to only eat the millet and ignore his food. Everybody's different and that's something not everyone understands. It's your bird. There's nothing pitfull about wanting the best for your bird.
