Sun Conure sneezing !!

Hello I have a 4 yr old sun conure. He's mood is ok, he's playing he's eating okay..he's popping ok..the only thing that I notice is that he is sneezing sometimes like 5-6 times in a row, he doesn't do this regularly just sometimes. I have a vet appointment for Saturday at 10am. I just need to get some input from ya'll to see what it can be..i notice when he's going to sleep he start I call it quackering, making those sleeping noises and sometimes he starts sneezing..like 4-5 in a row. So i'm wandering what it can be. He's the only bird that I have. It's just started like 2 weeks ago, he took a shower in one of the bowls and because the water was cold I ended up putting some warm water. I notice water on he's nostrils because he was sneezing to throw the water off. The room was around 77 F, which I think it was a little cold. But he decided he needed a shower. after that he started sneezing.. any ideas???? He's screaming ok..

Honestly, we couldn't tell you even if we wanted to. We can only guess, much like you can. I would imagine he got water up his nose that he needs to sneeze out considering that it started after a shower. As long as there's no coloured discharge, change in droppings, lack of appetite or consumption of water, then that's my guess. But only a certified avian vet can properly, so I think Saturday you'll know.

Hi ya, I went through this with Percy and the Vet thought that it must be environmental either in or outside of the home. Has something changed? Soaps? Smells, air freshener? New goods, cooking products? Dusts from woodwork or something maybe? Outside maybe someone is painting fence or spraying garden, fields, bonfires? etc. We dont use any aerosols or irritants for birds in our home.

We narrowed as much down as possible that we could notice and control, also. Percy now has a nebuliser, which he loves.

The bathing sneezing I was told was normal.

I was also told to only use cold tap water, or if too cold i.e. Winter to use cool boiled water, due to germs in warm water.

You have done the right thing by booking the vet and getting checked out for sure and will give you peace of mind. I hope all goes ok for you both.

Ps. i was told Percy's was a little fluid on his lung and it cleared within 2 weeks on nebbing! We only nebbed with saline.

Has anyone in your house been sneezing lately...cold or allergies, maybe (s)he's heard someone else sneezing? Often a bird will mimic someone it's heard sneezing...birds don't get colds and while dust in their nares might cause a sneeze or two, but continued sneezing is often the bird showing off.....
