Okay I saw a few videos on YouTube of a Cockatoo throwing dog biscuits to the dogs - lol - and then the other day my wife was wondering why our Miniature Schnauzer and Shih Tzu were hanging around the birds' play gym and then she caught Nibbler throwing green beans and grapes down to the dogs!! He stopped as soon as the camera came out - we'll try to post when we catch it again.

You might want to keep your dogs away from your bird's play gym & wherever else that grapes can be thrown from.....grapes & raisins are poisonous to dogs.....the green beans are OK, apparently they're good for them.....

I've seen my dog eat spilt bird seed. Why she'd want to eat that, I've no idea. None of the birds encourages her.

One of my quakers whistles for the dogs and when they show up, the quaker and the cockatoo throw food at them. Happily, neither bird likes grapes or raisins and the dogs don't like most of the food the birds chunk at them.

Yes...my cockatoo throws food to my dogs! My red tick hangs out under her play gym all the time for this reason. I don't know why my dog wants to eat pellets but... And Peanut will throw it down and then watch Spotsy, so she knows what she's doing.

I don't have any, but my parents had both parrots and dogs.

Not only do they feed the dogs. They called them, by name. Told them to "come here." Also knew the command "sit!" And "good boy."

Yeah... watch a macaw ordering a dog around, and then throwing it a treat, and the dog gets trained to respond to the bird the same way the dog responds to a person... (Feed the friggin' bird the dog gets excited!!)

WITHOUT FRIGGIN' PROMPTING, JUST BY WATCHING THE WAY PEOPLE DO IT!!

Yeah, that's one of those jaw drop moments... most folks think you're lying to them.

And Alex was just a really good mimic...

Uuhhh...huh.

Like conures skateboarding across my living room coffee table, somehow this just falls within the definition of "normal."

"Normal" is a relative concept.

My Macaws feeds the dogs, they call them by name as well. They called out all the dogs, Alexis, Rocco, Bucky, come here. Their favorite is Rocco, They would say Rocco Rocco Roccoooooooooo. Willie will climb down to the bottom of the cage and feed the pellets to the dogs, he hands it to them. The dogs patrol his cage often.....Willie is their favorite as he feeds them the most.

Yes, my Niko is NOTORIOUS for calling "Oscaaaarrrr, come heeeere boyyy". And the ONLY reason Oscar faithfully shows up is because Niko will toss something 'edible' at him. :54: The funniest thing is though that Niko will actually laugh when whatever he is throwing at Oscar HITS him. :11: And no, he doesn't toss grapes, those he likes himself. However, chunks of carrots, apples or broccoli are happily tossed to 'the dogs'.

Forgot to mention, my macaw sucks the juice out of the grapes and toss the skin on the bottom of the cage, those they don't give to the dogs. They mainly give them the pellets. :)

CATS on the other hand, were a sport to the macaws growing up... Let's have a contest to see which one of us could make Kitty jump the highest.

Funniest thing ever? Kitty goes up the curtains, only to discover about halfway up, that the bird climbs FASTER than kitty, and has now done a 180 degree turn, and you are climbing INTO that big beak... AND THE BIRD IS LAUGHING!!!

Well, not so funny if you're the cat I guess...

Tusk, my CAG, tormented my sister's cats when we moved out here and we were staying with her. Locked one of them in a cage, and sat on top of it dropping stuff on them.

They were fine with the dogs, but cats, apparently, are things that must be messed with. Mind you, the cats never messed with the birds, it was always the other way around. THEY instigated with the cats...

Dogs get fed. Cats get pelted. There is a difference.
