So back in March I clipped Sootie's wings after she got out and went frolicking around the park for three hours. I also used to live in a little apartment in Canada so it wasn't really safe to have her fully flighted. It was quite a severe clip, so for a long time she couldn't get very far on her wings.

She's re-grown most of her flight feathers but because I'd still been in that little apartment I don't think she really realised she could fly. Since I moved back here into my mum and dad's place a week or so ago, she has really just flown from her cage to her boing, other sides of the living room (about 6 meters).

Anyway just now she was fooling around on her cage and she fell off, and nearly hit the deck. She caught herself in time and flew up and over the sofa, back to within a couple of inches of the ground, then back up to the ceiling to her boing.

The look on her face was so hysterical when she realised what she'd just done, then she just took off at full speed, dive bombing and then climbing back up to the ceiling, just flying around and around in circles! It was so lovely to watch her just playing in the air and enjoying her wings!! <3

oh my god she's high as a kite now, sitting on her boing and attacking her toys and singing. So adorable! I hope there's a nice day soon so I can take her to the beach and try and fly her on her harness

I just love when they fly for sheer pleasure - JellyBean does this sometimes around the kitchen (it is a double height room) and he soars around screeching! just having plain old fun!!
