Jet-Star - 1 Year old Jenday Conure
So, I was gonna get a Vasa or Kakariki, but came across this beauty <3 He's my first bird. I call him Jet-Star. He's had a rough background, so, I'll tell you the short version of what I know for you all;

He was sold by the breeder parent-reared with little human contact to a collector.

The collector sold out to a wholesaler.

The wholesaler sold to a pet-store where he was in a tiny white canary looking cage.

He is very aggressive, dive-bombs when out, and won't take treats from you, not even apple his fave fruits. He prefers making a crow noise than a conure scream that's typical of a Jenday, he doesn't pluck (I know, lucky, right?)

Had him since October 30th, he is my first birdie of my own and only non-tame bird (If you count Hawks, Falcons and a Steppe Eagle as tame, lol) I've been around :)

He's wonderful <3 He also like to scratch his feathers on his head up like an Osprey, so I have 3 of my fave birdies in one :D A crow, Conure and Osprey <3 :orange:

*Will post picture in comments when I figure out how!*

Congratulations! Jet-star is beautiful. I think Jendays are one of the prettiest parrots out there. Gorgeous color.

Thank you very much :D Jendays are my faves too :3 Suns are bit too bright for me. But, yeah. If you can see past the dive-bombing and the lunging and the biting, he's a great bird <3

First step is to just let him get used to the place. Let him observe. Talk to him in a nice voice, don't invade his space if he seems skittish and scared. That's probably why he's using aggressive behavior.

He's skittish even if I'm all the way across my room. He'll settle eventually. Fireworks don't help, lol.
