So, I'm new to taking care of birds, and the forums. I had gotten a new Green cheek conure about 2 weeks ago. He is getting enough sleep, water, and food, he has a big enough cage. But ever since a few days ago he has been so aggrevated with me. everytime I try to pick him up or scratch his head, he tries to bite me, and He's also about 6-7 months old. if that helps any. But I was wondering why he's like this, please someone help me. I love and play with him... (or atleast try to) but someone please help me<3

Sounds like a couple of things may be going on.....first, if the biting/attempt at biting is when you stick your hand in the cage, many birds are cage protective & don't take kindly to you encroaching on its space and/or the proverbial "honeymoon" could be over and it is exhibiting/vying for a higher position in the flock and you need to begin training to quell the new attitude it seems to have acquired.....don't be too concerned, because many of us found ourselves at the same juncture when we realized that our birds didn't come already trained.....

Here's a few links on various training topics you might find interesting: http://www.parrotforums.com/training/

Good luck.....

I tried clicker training back some 20+ years ago when I first got a maroon bellied conure (first cousin to green cheeks), but since then, have just muddled through.....actually, after the first one, I never had less than three birds/parrots at any one time & as long as they are close in species, newbies watch & learn from other flock members, but my situation is quite different than most as I recently retired from a job/lifestyle that kept me apart from my flock for up to six months at a time...and...I've got a very good bird sitter whenever I need to impose.....

If you take a look around YouTube, you'll find a number of decent and fair training video clips regarding training conures and various other parrot species...and...the forums have a collection of discussions on various training topics: Training - Parrot Forum - Parrot Owner's Community

Good luck.....
