I live in the mountains on a farm. It is so much
Parrots
I have 2 conures. One is a Sun named Mango who is my little gymnast and he is two years old. Kiwi, a mischievous little Green Cheek is one and a half.
Hello All,

I really need as quick responses as possible as I don't know what to do about this dilemma. I have a sun conure (Mango) and a green cheek conure (Kiwi) who have been together since they were young, possibly from right after hatching. They have been rehomed twice and now having been in their third home for about a year they have begun to fight. It really is strange because they have been the best of friends for the past year and get along really well, I just don't know what would cause this fighting. They would preen each other and snuggle and be the sweetest little couple. Their behavior is out of the ordinary. They don't seem to currently be hurting each other but I am worried that it is getting more aggressive. Can anyone help?

Sounds like sibling rivalry....By them boxing gloves and let them sort it out...Sorry, had to be funny. Seriously though, it's mating season and aggression can set in. Separate them.

It's quite normal for bird "friends" to have quarrels at times. If it appears to be escalating to a point where it's obvious they need to be separated, then please do so. IMHO I think it would be rare for bonded buddies to fight to the point where there is literally feathers flying and blood, but keep supervised.

I actually trained my flock not to fight with each other.
If your guys are out of cage and start a fight scold them and put to their cages immediately (I assume you housed them separately by now). Or if one of them is the initiator, them put just him to cage. They have to understand that fighting is not allowed. In beginning my fids would start fighting as soon as I turned my back to them. Now they hardly ever fight - maybe once in a few months or so. It really works.
