Hi all,
Two questions:
Are these stress bars, or bronzing?
Does JoJo appear to be a black cap, or GCC?

His history. He is aprox 15 months old. A local feed and grain store took him in about 6 months ago, almost featherless, from a pretty bad situation. While there, he was only on seeds, sharing a big pen with 20 canaries and one cocktail. I have had him now a little over 2 months. He is eating very well, no issue with pellets from day one. Am giving him a mixture of Zupreem and TOPS. Enjoys his veggies.
I know he is molting right now, and the black is on the tips of his feathers.
One other thing, he is a sweetheart!

No, this is not his cage, just something to bring him outside in!

Those will be gradually shed out. It could take a few moults to get rid of the black spots entirely....my GCC was much worse than that (the feathers he actually had, that is). After the first full moult it was almost gone, by the second it was gone completely. The better the diet and exercise, the better the feathers. By fall he should be in much better shape. Being outside for fresh air and sunshine has tremendous benefits as well, so it's looking up for him.

Bless you for saving him, conures are the most darling little creatures and I just love mine to death. He's my biggest buddy in a tiny package. I'm glad another one got a good home. Does he get some inside people time too? Mine is my shadow, he must go wherever I go or he totally loses it.

He hangs with my daughter/friend and me all the time. He is very good with strangers, and I want it to stay that way!
From what I been seeing, he most likely is not a black cap, no red on his wings, but so what! He is super nice, never pooped on any of us! Only hard bite I ever got was, first morning out of the cage, I went to cuddle him and he had to take a dump!
