Hi everyone , I'm new to this forum and this forum is great.
But guys i have a question . It is -
Which species of conures have the best ability to talk and have the clearest voice ?? Do they have good personalities ?
I was thinking of getting a new conure and I have experience in keeping budgies, lovebirds, parrotlet and a senegal parrot.Loud noise and space is not a problem to me as I live in suburb.
Thank's for any suggesions.

I have a Jenday and she is 15 weeks and already talking. She says brat and what. She also mimics the dogs barking. She hasn't gotten the bark down but I hear her practice tones! They are VERY smart! I can't speak for the others because she is my first conure.

Conures are generally not great talkers, but they make up for it with their crazy personalities. I have a green cheek and she is such a joy! However, I'm seeing lots of posts about moodiness in green cheeks here, and Kyo can be moody as well. But otherwise they are hilarious little clowns that just want to show you love <3

My birds: Skyler/Sky, violet Indian Ringneck. Mother's birds: Norman, African Grey and Mildred, Blue Crowned Conure.
The larger Conures have a generally better talking ability. Mildred (Blue Crowned) has a large vocabulary but she can't say words very clearly. My Green Cheek could say words very clearly and she said quite a lot too, but she wasn't an average GC.

Pazu - Green Cheek Conure - Hatch Date ~27 September 2014~
I've got a gcc and he's not a year old yet and has picked up hello, Pazu (his name) and saying step up (the little bugger). He only says them when he likes (and is feeling chatty) except step up which he'll say on command, as you can imagine I wasn't trying to teach him to SAY it (but luckily he does step up when asked, but when he doesn't want to he shows of his vocab).

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
My dusky conure used words and phrases in context.

It's rare for conures to have that kind of talking ability. It's kind of luck of the draw, plus training. In fact, my evil little dusky was the only conure I've ever been around that had that kind of ability...

The larger species tend to be clearer Cherry heads, Mitred, Blue Crown. Out of all conures I think my favorite would be the mitred then cherry head. Big fun loving characters put into smaller birds. Keep in mind though that no bird is guaranteed to talk. Some are just loud, I have always loved the look of Sun's but when they scream it hurts me! The smaller birds have a higher pitch that my ears just can't tolerate I would rather listen to a full on screaming zon than the smaller parrots.

My JoJo (GCC), mumbles 'stuff' a lot. We talk back and forth using clicks, kisses, scrapes, and when he scolds me as only a GCC can do, I do it back at him. He also does a perfect squeaky toy imitation and is slowly learning to whistle! He lived for 6 months with about 20 parakeets and picked up a boat load of sounds from them.

My Cherry head is 6 months old and he says, Hi, up up, makes kiss sounds. I think the other night when I was putting him up for the night he said night. I talk to him all day long, if someone was to hear me from outside I think they would of thought I lost my mind talking to my self.

Thank to everyone for their useful comment. But overall their vocabulary and voice cleanliness whom you will choose ?
Maybe cherry head or blue crowned or green cheek ?

I've read that the Mitred Conure can have quite the vocab. Plus, they are beautiful birds.

I have a Gold Capped Conure that is about 3 months old and he murmurs a lot of gibberish but I can tell he is trying to tell me something. My Sun conure has a shriek that just makes my ears ring. No talking though.

I have one bird. He is a Black Capped Conure and his name is Harley. His hatch date is 2/3/2014.
I have a black capped and he says all sorts of stuff! He uses some of them in the correct context! He says whatcha doin, I miss you, damn it, asshole(mommas got a potty mouth heehee), nothing, hello, scott(which is my boyfriends name), I need you, what, momma and some other things we are trying to figure out. But he fell off his rope the other day and said 'damn it' I cracked up. He also sees his reflection and thinks it's another bird so all you hear is 'damn it' and 'asshole' lol

I once had a blue-crowned conure that knew what he was talking about. If he was on the floor and the dog got close to him he'd say "hey rocky" and follow the dog for a little while repeating it. When the other birds were being noisy, he'd say "shut up." If I touched my finger to his beak he'd say "gotcha"
None of the other conures I've had except for a sun that said his name, ever said a word.

This is kind of off topic because I know you are looking for conures, but have you considered Quakers? They are a similar size to conures, and if talking is your #1 want, they are the way to go. Sammy is barely a year old and I've only had him a couple of months and he has a ginormous vocabulary which he uses in context. "I love you", "peekaboo", "stop it!" (when the dogs are barking), step up? (in a questioning voice with a tilt of the head if I put my finger out, then won't get on until I say yes and nod, hahaha!), "pretty bird", "pretty boy", "bad dog", and "give kisses" are the ones I can think of off the top of my head that he's learned in the 2.5 months I've had him, and he's picking up new words all the time. He says "pretty bird" when he sees my mom because she is the one who first called him that. And I haven't been actively trying to teach him or anything. "Peekaboo" is his favorite word and is the only one he says on cue. He says it whenever I cover my eyes with my hand.

A talking bird is never a guarantee, but if talking is really important to you then Quakers are a good bet. Samsung's not super cuddly in the "get in your shirt and bury himself" way, but he wants to be sitting on you at all times so he's a slightly more distant kind of velcro bird. If I leave him on the playstand in the living room and go take a bath, he will come and join me--and he can't fly! He climbs off the play stand and flutters his way though the house to me. So they can be quite loving birds and tend to be quite excellent talkers (though there is never a guarantee a bird will talk.)

I love Quakers. I wish I could get one. They are so intelligent for their size and highly underestimated.

We have a blue-crowned who, as it turns out, has quite a vocabulary (we've only had him a few weeks, and he's only started talking to us in the past week). As to quality of speech, he's an interesting case-in-point, as he grew up right beside an exceptionally talkative and clear-speaking Grey (whom we also have).

The Conure says pretty much everything the Grey does, but it's not as clear. It's a little "gravelly", and he doesn't mimic the actual pitch & tonal patterns of the human voice that was copied, but if you're listening closely, it's still quite clear. It's also interesting to note that his speech seems to be quite appropriate contextually, as well (as it is with our Grey), so they clearly are capable of contextual speech.

I'm sure it's luck-of-the-draw, for the most part. Plus, it seems that some birds who speak a lot sometimes change their minds & cease speaking entirely. Our 'Zon was a talkative devil who always had something to say...until our Grey arrived 6 months ago. Sammy (the 'Zon) hasn't spoken a single word since (just loud squawks and such). It's clear he simply decided not to talk anymore - maybe he just lets the Grey do all the talking...along the lines of "Why keep dogs, and bark myself?"
