Hello All. Do any of you have a hampster wheel for your Green Cheek Conure? If so, do they use it? What brand and size should I get? I have a very active Green Cheek that like to do all kinds of tricks and be all over the place so thought she could use a wheel. I bought a baby mobile for my birds some time back and she loves it and rides on it as it's going around. Plays on it even when it isn't going around. :)

Thank you!!

Okay so I think I'm going to buy the silent spinner. I need to see how it fits on the cage first because I don't want anything on a stand...

FLboy the silent spinner doesn't have any slots. I've heard of birds getting their toes ripped off from the kind with the slots.

I'd say - like with ANY toy - watch your bird closely, see how she/he interacts with the new 'toy', and if necessary be prepared to remove, especially if you have an overzealous bird. I know I wouldn't offer my fids (if I had small ones) the wheel with the slots/slits.

Awesome! will be looking at some this evening! A thought on the ones with slits, hot glue gun? Line with gorilla tape? Hmm, have to check to see if hot glue on the safe list!

This is such an adorable idea!!! Maybe I'll get a big one for Espresso. Which would make my household pretty ironic since my rat doesn't use a wheel (she is an old lady)

Djdancer: we used to have the silent spinner for our hedgehog and even with no slots, there are still little square holes throughout the middle of the wheel (right where they would step) and get their toes/nail caught. It was an issue when We had our hedgehog as well and I used silicone to cover the holes. This would work well for a fid, but didn't work with a hedgehog because they pee when they run and with the holes covered it wouldn't allow drainage and I won't type it, but I am sure you can picture fluids + spinning = unmentionable mess! As far as mounting. The silent spinner has a really go hefty spin knob to attach to (or at least the large one that we had did). They come in extra large sizes too. There is another wheel i think it's call the comfort spinner that we ended up using that doesn't have the holes and wasn't curved to catch fluids.
