Hello, my name is Amber. I have 3 conures. Chilly the Sunday Conure(sun conure and nanday conure hybrid), Oscar the grouch(Cinnamon green cheek) and Tilly the cinnamon green cheek. I actually just got them :) But they all seem lovely! Chilli is a kisser, Oscar dosnt mind too much being held but can be a little nippy, and tilly dosnt mind being held. tilly and oscar is not use to much human contact as the last owner never messed with them, but they are doing suprizing well for me so far! I wasnt even expecting to be able to hold them, but they are letting me. So far so good huh? lol. But all 3 take off flying if scared. Its amazing how much I love them already!
Since oscar and tilly are a pare they are fine around eachother, but chilly dosnt really like them being near me when shes on my shoulder.
Oscar keeps grinding is beak too. Is this a normal thing?

Hi Amber, nice to see you have the GCC's home with you, just take it slow and don't try doing to much to quick, as for beak grinding, it is something that is usually associated with contentment, mostly at times of peaceful rest or sleeping, there is also beak clicking which sounds somewhat similar but can mean just the opposite, such as I don't want to be handled, the clicking is usually followed agressive behavior such as lunging or attempting to bite if you get to close, the bird may also retreat or fly off as well.....Good Luck :)

Welcome to the forum. I saw the pictures of your new fids in your other post, they are beautiful. Bobby gives great advice, just take it easy and let them run the show in terms of relationship building. You are doing so well! Just take small steps, they will let you know when they are comfortable.

Also, just wondering, did the birds all come from the same place? Just wondering if quarantining would be an issue here. (sorry to bring it up guys, but seems important)

Good luck with it all!

I think its a peaceful grind because he seems to only do it while in there cage fluffed up and huddled next to Tilly. Its cute, but they only stay on the side of the cage so far and wont really perch on anything else. Im giving them time to settle and get use to the surroundings (I have to work today so it will make it easier on me not being too tempted to try and hold them lol). Plus chilli is all up for being held lol. She squawks at me as soon as I come in the room if I dont come pick her up so she can hop onto my shoulder and clean my hair. :)

Oh and another question, I thought I read it somewhere on here before but cant remember. What is the best kind of food to feed them? The previous owner fed them a mix between parrot and cockatiel food. I wasnt sure if this was the best choice for them so.. Any advice would be great :)
