Who else sniffs their sun? I do, he smells so yummy. Has anyone smelled the breath of a new born puppy who hasn't eaten solid foods yet? His breath smell like that most of the time. I promise it's not gross. It smells nutty and milky. His feathers smell different but still nice. I bury my nose in them sometimes.

Can you tell me what yours smell like?

LOL. I smell my birds all the time.

Peaches, especially when she's wet, smells just like maple syrup. You almost want to put her on a pancake.

I bury my nose in Skittles wingpit all the time. He likes it. I can't quite put my finger on what his scent is. But it's sweet smell. I almost want to say he smells like sweet broccoli.

Skittles breath smells like cake mix.

That's hilarious, thought it was just me. I love smelling my conure too! She usually smells like berries or apple chips.

I think mine smells musty and, while it doesn't bother me, I don't love it. You are definitely not alone though! I see people on my fb groups saying this all the time. My pionus, on the other hand, smells AMAZING. They emit a sweet kind of fruity smell from their nose when they are happy and/or excited. I love it.

Tiki smells musky too and I don't love it either. When we first brought him/her home we really noticed it. Now, not so much.

My budgie was 'delicious' smelling. And that is going back 20 years or so, but I was convinced birds have the best smell! When I used to go to the bird hospital back in the day when he was breeding a lot of birds, I would open the door and say I just wanted to get a sniff of the place because I love it so much. He would laugh and say I was weird but it was ok. hahaha

I like the "breath" smell they have. The wet feathers after a bath is less yummy.

I smell Avery and Shiko so much they have literally copied my breathing sound. Shiko does this "Ahhh, mmm" sound because he smells like cologne to me for some reason, and Avery blows out of her nares really loudly when I bury my nose into her neck. Bird people are weird [emoji16]

I love the feel of the warm feathers. I love pressing my face against Skittles underwing. I can hear his heartbeat and hear him breathing. It's the sweetest sound.

Skittles mimicks my snores during the night. That is the cutest thing.

I used to have a pin I would wear that said "I sleep with strange birds". I think it was more a British thing rather than an actual bird thing, but I still thought it was cute.

I couldn't stop smelling Kyo today, she just smells so good... and I remembered this thread.
I couldn't pinpoint what she smelled like until I just sat down after putting her to bed with my tea… and it smells like her :3 just delightful. She must think I'm insane from trying to sniff her so much LOL

so today she smells like orange pekoe tea with honey.

It's no different than people who smell their fingers all day after eating chicken. LOL.

I can't describe the smell, but I do cup my GCC in my hands and snuff his feathers. I always come up for air and say "ahhhh..... new bird smell!" except the newness never wears off, like a new car LOL

My GCC didn't have much of a smell, but I could smell her when she was wet. When I first had my SunDay, she smelled like a fireplace, it was awful! It took a number of baths to get that smell out of her, don't know if the people who had her smoked or if she never had a bath.

My cockatiel has a light musky smell to her, but I LOVE the way my Amazons smell, can't quite put my finger on it but I love sniffing them. I certainly feel a ton less weird now!!

After a bath, I always think Charlie smells like a campfire. Smokey and weird. Not unpleasant though.

Kind of like Peaches, she smells like maple syrup - a little smokey as well.

I really wish I could 'identify' the scent of Skittles. That bugs the crap out of me that I can't quite pin it down.

I just got home from the store and I went to let Skitty out of his cage. While I did that and he was on my hand I tried to sniff him to see if I could identify the exact smell. He fought to be free and I swear - he gave me this look like "stop sniffing me, you pervert!". LOL.

Basil smells like her the earth, millet, and something tangy like vinegar. There's a sweet hint as well. I love to sniff her, lol.
