maroon bellied conure
I have had strep throat for a week and tonight I noticed my maroon bellied conure hasn't been eating. apart from some apple, since I got home. There was some strange poop in bathtub (he hangs out in bathroom most of time I am out) and now all he does is drink a lot and it looks like he is holding it before swallowing. I have never seen him drink this much.
Could he have caught something from me?

Get thee to an avian certified vet ASAP!

We can't answer that, but in the time it takes to figure it out on your own, your bird could go from easily curable to critically ill.

What he said!

I wonder though, if he's just stress because you're unwell? Could impact his eating/bowel movements.

Regardless, better safe than sorry.

@JerseyWendy Thanks for that link! I found that information quite helpful.

I always say prevention is the best medicine. I make sure my hands are clean BEFORE I feed or play with Skittles. He likes to give me 'kisses' but when I kiss him my lips only touch the front of his top beak. He likes to rub the side of his beak against my fingernails, so having clean hands is very important. For that reason, I clean under my nails regularly. LOL.
