Hi!

I have posted here before about my female 3 year old GCC Haru, and it seems nothing i try helps.

She screams, all day everyday, which is something i can live with, but the biting.. She bites me every chance she gets! I tried saying no in a stern voice, I tried walking away, ive tried lightly tapping her beak (shes very afraid of hands) but to no avail. Shes starting to go for my face and neck, and she`ll bite until I bleed. Its very tiring, and it doesnt seem that toys, training or anything else will help, and im running out of.

Ive trained her with a clicker and a stick for about 7 months now, but only things she seems to have learned is that if shes quick enough, she can get my fingers when i put out the stick -_-

Send help. :grey:

I just went through all your posts, been a very long battle! My wife's Bongo, formerly Bongo the Barbarian, used to be a trained attack bird- so it seemed. Loved the taste of bone marrow! I even got to wear him, hanging off the skin between my nostrils! It has been work, but he has not drawn blood in a couple of months now. I am starting to trust him on my shoulder a bit. Stepping up is still stick only, tried to use my hand yesterday and got nailed, but no blood!
Point is, your baby can change! It does sound like you are doing everything right though.

I think my breakthrough with Bongo was when I had a complete change of attitude working with him. I started just ignoring and making believe I didn't notice when he was being really hostile. And giving him treats he used to just try to attack me so I would give him a couple tries and then I would eat the treat, tell him he was good bird, and just talk to him nice and walk away, come back about five minutes later offer him a treat again and this time he would take it. And no it was not that simple!

By the timestamps on your posts, I am not sure if you just don't write much or if you're not around very much. I would suggest living on this forum for a while and trying to absorb everything you can. What I did I learned from here. And oh yes Bongo was like this for over a year! Remember, you have a mini macaw! Read a lot of Birdman666's stuff!

My conure does this to my husband. I feel your pain, it feels like an uphill battle.

It might be counterproductive for some, but for Kyo I have to allow her to nibble me, and just let her know when it's too rough. For my husband, she only bites hard. Judt keep at it, as you may have a breakthrough. For us, Kyo will behave better if she is with hubby in a room she isn't familiar with. We have had a few good days where she will only nibble him now. But some days, she is all aggression.

Usually she will have a reason for bad days now. Either i've moved something or cleaned her cage (how dare I take her grate and wash it!!) or if I work on school instead of playing with her for 20 mins.

Just keep at it!! Never give up. And be consistent. It can be really frustrating. Hang in there.
