Scared of hands?

Hello, I have an eight month old conure who's been with me for a little over a month now. She does not really like people touching her. If I try she will usually move far away or make a sound. I'm not moving fast at all and the breeder I got her from could get my bird to do anything. Does she still need more time or am I not doing something that I'm supposed to do? She's fine with taking food from my hands as well.

Time and space! My JoJo was groped for 6 months by anyone who walked by her open pit. A good 50% of the time, I still use a stick to have her step up and then step onto my hand. I respect what she went through, as any molestation victim needs!

My Rio (Yellow Sided Green Cheeked Conure) came from a pet store and I am experiencing the same thing. What they told me at a local bird rescues is that breeders with large operations grab babbies out of the cage, force feed them, and put them back in and that is the only human contact. As a result, they are terrified of hands.

I could not get closer than 3-4 feet to Rio when he came home 2 months ago. Now I can get right up next to him and I have persuaded him twice so far to walk onto the back of my hand by putting a few sunflower seeds on it. It was suggested at the rescue that the back of your hand is less scary and so far it seems to be the case.
