Conures and ducklings

Hey guys, so I'm kind of interested in getting a duckling. I've always wanted one since I was little and just recently found a place that sells ducklings and chicks for farms.

I guess my question is, how do you think a conure will act with a duckling in the house? I want one but if it's going to be a bad idea for Harleys sake then I'll pass.

Well. Ducks are outside pond birds. And do better in groups of their own. So one duck won't so well.

Well I was planning on getting a few. They're only 4.75 here in the area I live in. And we have a running stream in my back yard. Plus I'd get a kiddy pool for them. They are already a few weeks old. So they're babies but not baby babies.

I think chickens and ducks carry diseases that our pet birds don't have immunity to. I myself wouldn't mix the two.

Also unless you have no outdoor predators at all (foxes, raccoons, fishers), you would need to create an outside enclosure. And they have to be kept inside until their baby feathers are molted, usually with access to a heat lamp.

I get new chicks every few years who are in the house till they are fully feathered and can go to the coop. Though Foo, our conure show's huge interest in other conures/parrots, usually not good interest, she hardly even acknowledges the existent of the chickens and currently a turkey. When I let the turkey out of the brooder, it follows us around like a puppy too, still no reaction whatsoever from Foo. Ellie, our blue crowned conure only shows interest in they are alarm calling she does her cooing sound at them.

As doublet said, make sure you have a secure coop set up for the ducks or you will just be feeding the coons, stray dogs ect in your area. I free range our chickens/turkey during the day with their friends the pit bull, Lump and the Aussie, Howard. At night they go to a secure coop. (do not use chicken wire, coons just unravel it and go through. Use a more sturdy wire, such as hardware cloth and make sure nothing can dig under into your coop) our first year we lost a bantam to a hawk before we started keeping the dogs out with them during their free run time and added shelters for them to dodge under if their is birds of prey about.
