muesli for green cheek

Hi everyone,
I'm a new green cheek conure owner and would love some feedback about letting my bird eat my organic home made muesli. It has various grain puffs, rolled oats, some nuts and seeds (not much) and dried fruit and pellets (in his bowl not mine!). He also eats fruit and veg and seed and pellets in his cage but when he's out with me and cruising in the kitchen I let him eat his muesli.
I haven't seen many people talking about muesli for their parrots so I just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong.
He's a lovely little fellow and I'm enjoying getting to know him.:) He's about 11 weeks old.
Thanks so much for any thoughts.
Gus

Hi Gus and welcome to the forum, I have to admit I didn't know what muesli was, so I googled it, it seems its pretty much all natural fruits, nuts and grains, so that part is ok, it also said that some people serve it with milk, cream or yogart, those wouldn't be good as birds are lactose intolerant, a very small amount of yogart would be ok, but pretty much all other dairy wouldn't be, hope that helps, enjoy your stay :)

Thanks for such a quick reply! I give the muesli to him dry so no dairy, sometimes he'll get a little bit of pineapple juice with it. He forages in it too, looking for the pumpkins seeds which he loves. I know he shouldn't have too many fatty seeds like sunflower seeds, but I'm unsure as to how much is too much. In a day he has say 3 or 4 sunflower seeds and 3 or 4 pumpkin seeds and a bit of walnut, brazil and almond nut - about as much as in a whole almond. He also has a regular bird seed mix.
Does that sound ok or too much?
Thanks again for any feedback

I have muesli and have often wondered whether Cal would like a lil bit dry - now I know!

Hello everyone!
Yes he also gets fresh fruit, veg and pellets. Loves ripping apart some string beans tied together and hung from his cage wall.
In my muesli I put various puff grains, rolled oats, chopped almonds, brazils, peanuts and walnuts, raisins, sultanas, currants, apricots, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, linseed - whatever looks good at our local organic supplier. I used to heat it all up a bit on the stove when I first made it up but I don't bother any more. Heating it seemed to mix the flavours a bit more.
Nice to meet you all!
