My 6 month old male Jenday, Kellan, went from sweet and quiet to a raging ball of crazy. He's still sweet as can be, but he's now developed a horrid case of attention needy-ness. And mouthy behavior I'm trying to break. Not biting just always mouthing me.

If I'm not home, he's quiet and calm(my mom gets home before me and said he's always quiet, even when she goes in to check in everyone). But as soon as he hears my voice he starts up. Climbing the walls of his cage, screaming, flapping, and jumping around. He even found out how to open his cage door, which is now locked. He goes nuts and my whole flock loses it. He's got the mentality that if I'm home he should be out, whether on me or with Me in sight. He was NEVER like that. Nothing has happened or changed to my knowledge to cause it. He doesn't stop until I open the door for him, and I've let him go for up to an hour to try to 'wait him out'.

Every one of my birds has to come out alone because my female Gcc is a pushy thing, my RL Amazon is mean, and my female Sun thinks she's a human and doesn't know what to do around other birds. Usually I can bring the Gcc out and leave her on her play stand while the Sun and Kellan are out, which she prefers as she likes her space.

Kellan has a ton of toys, such he destroys faster than my Gcc and Sun combined, lots of space and daily time out. Though he is clipped because I don't trust him yet. Once he's out he's calm and happy and preens me, sometimes to hard, and himself and sings and coo's and chases my fingers, roles onto his back to play, ect... I've tried food, but as soon as I leave the room he drops it and starts again. It's just odd. But he's eating, drinking, looking, and playing normal. The only thing that has changed is he is molting a bit. But none of my others have ever done anything like this during a molt!!

What is this? Anyone else notice this? Any remedy?

Kellan sounds like he is carrying on for your benefit. Hate to say it, but you might just have to deal with ignoring the loud behavior as long as it takes. Waiting over an hour and he is still at it, you give in, he learns that eventually you WILL give in! So wait until that rare moment of calm and quiet, and go to him then.

For what it's worth, my conure also calls for me when I walk or drive into the driveway, but is silent when I am gone. Sounds like Kellan is just happy/desperate to see you and needs some more time to learn the routine.

Thank you, Piasa :) I think I just give in because he gets the others started with screaming and acting up. Usually I keep the routine of who gets said 'hello' to first, which is my Gcc because she was my first bird and my 'Second in command'. But when Kellan has a fit she goes off and begins strutting and screaming and gets nippy when I say hello. I've come in to the room and ignored Kell and grabbed Conlan, to take her with me to another room, to remove her from his excited energy but then she just screams back at him from another room. She has always been the one to yell at everyone to calm down. She's not big on Kellan 's overexcited nature, and while she won't attack his cage she definitely let's me know she's not pleased that I haven't 'handled my flock leader duties'. And I feel bad because when she does bite from overstimulation she gets her 'time out' and I feel like she's being punished because she's trying to calm the chaos.

If I come in and scoop Kellan up and put him on my shoulder or the stand, he's quiet, and I can say hello like normal and Conlan is happy. But that means changing routine and I don't want Conlan to feel like she's being pushed down in flock placement :/

I LOVE my Kellan but he's throwing a wrench into my flocks routine lol. My Sun Conure feeds off his excitement and after a few scratches is content in her world.
