I just got Kermit about a week ago. He's 12 weeks old and such a sweet baby <3

But I've noticed he seems to itch a lot, particularly around the skin of his eye. I've looked closely at his skin and nearby feathers but don't see any inflamation or anything that would indicate mites (unless they're difficult to see?).

My state is in a record heat wave, but it's muggy and not dry. Kermit takes baths at least 2 x a day to stay cool, so not sure dry skin is his issue here?

I'll be taking him to the avian vet within the next few weeks ANYWAYS for a check-up, but just wanted to know if I should be overly concerned about my feather child? :<:green2:

Does he have pin feathers near his eye? Those are very itchy and you can help him out by preening him as he can't reach them himself. My conure liked to scratch his head quite a bit - he'd use his tail feathers to do it, feathers that he had moulted, his claw, toys, and of course, us so they are birds that like a good head scratch. I would just watch but it doesn't sound like anything is up at this point.

I've only seen one pin feather XD; He doesn't seem to really be molting yet, though I know it's the season.
