I got my black capped conure June 15th. He is still new to us.

I would like to hear from others about how their BCC acts and what things it likes and dislikes. Whwt kiND of trests and games?.

I think my BCC is a male but I don't know just a hunch I have. We call him sprinkles. He had a bad reputation at the pet store. Many of the employees thought he was mean. He is nippy but has a sweet side that is a little crazzy. I am getting to know him we are working on the bites he is getting better. He steps up great.

I was say my BCC is .

This little bird is awesome he is nippy that's the only bad thing about him. He nips more than average conures but I am figuring what causes the nips so they happen less. Also positive training with treat helps.

My little guy makes cute sounds when he is going to sleep. He loves his little sleep hut too.

If you have a black capped conure I would love to hear about yours and see photos. I know they are very simular to the green cheek but would like to know if owner see a difference in personality between the 2.

This is my first black capped and I have never had a green cheek of my own only was around friends and family's green cheeks. At stores I would play with them too.

Every parrot is different. Even our little Amazon Salty is very un Amazon like. He does not greet the morning or scream at night. His loud time is round 2:30 in the afternoon. We have yet to see him in full eye pinned tail spread Amazon rip your face off mode. He is very gentle. So common traits about parrots is a relative thing. Your bird they only exhibit some of the traits of its species or all of them or none of them. I am glad that you are enjoying the new addition to your family. Good luck

Thanks guys.

Yes I know not all parrots read the book on how they should act. My Senegal did not fit many of the things I read they should be like. Only a few.

So far my little guy is living up to what I have read. Even the making little sounds at sleep time. I want to know if Green cheeks do this? I would just like to hear from others that have kept these bird what they think?

I never had my own green cheek but I have met many. My aunt has one that is 20+ years old it was the first green cheek I ever met and that was 20 years ago. But I got to know that little bird. My friend has one now that is only 5 years old. All the other green cheeks I have met are young.

So I am going to go out on a limb and say because the black capped conure is not as common and has not been avalibal to us for that long. I feel the black capped conure is what the green cheek once was. They are a bit more wild then the ones I meet these days. I feel with all the inbreeding I mean "line breeding" the green cheek of today is a bit more domestic. For that reason I kind of wish I got a turquoise green cheek. The more domestic green cheeks seem easy. I do love what greens are they these days. My aunts 20+ year old green cheek reminds me of my black capped.

I would like to hear what others think.

We got our Black Capped conure 3 months ago. He is now 5 months old. When we first brought him home he would bite at every chance he got, he couldn't step up, or even hold a treat to eat. Now after 3 months of working with him, he can do a few tricks, hold his treats, and when he goes to nip me, I raise me a voice just enough and so he now knows oops I have to stop, and he'll lick me instead. My Emerald is regular little clown, he will do summer sakts on the bottom of his cage and back flips on the sides of his cage. We love him lots, and so does pur 1 and a half year old Pineapple green cheeked conure Slugger. They bonded and he's learning a lot from my older conure, all good.
