Hello everyone!
Ive been a new mommy to Pixie ( 3month old hand fed YSGCC) for a month now and ive just noticed her sleeping area. When I put her to bed at 10, shes on her highest rope perch but since I've gotten her nails clipped on Friday, I hear her fall during the night so I investigated a bit more. This picture shows where and how she ACTUALLY sleeps! I usually cover the front of the cage so I dont bother her if I go to sleep later or get up during the night. She also has a night light to find her way up should something happen (happy I did!).

Now I removed the chew toy that was next to her and yet she goes back to the same spot. I've read about the huts but so many accidents seem to happen I dont really trust it.

Any suggestions to change this habit?

My BCC loves to sleep in his little sleep hut. Pyrrhura tend to like to sunggle and hide in dark places to sleep.

My little guy fell asleep on my shoulder under my hoodie when I first got him. So I knew he would like a little hut.sure enough he does. You should get yours a hut. What accidents happen with huts? As long as the hut is in good shape and not all chewed up what is the problem?

I read they can make a bird moody or horny.

FYI There have been some issues with birds chewing their huts and ingesting the fibres which cause internal blockages. If you use one be super vigilant please. :)

Yellow-sided Green Cheek Conure - Hatch Day 12/11/15 - "Tiki"
Tiki slept like that for the first two or three days she was home with us. We ended up getting her a heated perch and a cozy corner. She loves it. She snuggles right up to the cozy corner and tucks her little foot in. Happy as can be. I rearrange her cage once or twice a week so she doesn't get bored but I never move her sleeping space. We went with the cozy corner instead of the snuggle hut because of the potential hormonal and safety issues. That being said, i always always always check her toys and her cozy corner everyday for loose strings or fibers and remove them right away.
