So I've been thinking about getting a green cheek for about 2 months now and I've done lots of research. I have 3 calm, small dogs, and I've had many pets before. What are the ups and downs of owning a green cheek? Do you think they're a good choice for first time bird owners? Thanks!:D

Hello and welcome!
Green cheeks are great for first time bird owners, although they do have a personality like a bigger bird. Be prepared to get nipped as they will definitely let you know when they don't like something:)
I would still keep the dogs at a safe distance as things can happen in a split second.
I'm glad you joined us and I look forward to hearing about your new baby when you choose one.

I have 2 dogs one small bird safe dog. One bigger and almost bird safe but not really.

If your 3 dogs are bird safe getting a bird will be fine. If you have a dog you do not trust around the bird splitting your time between them can be hard or time consuming.

Green cheeks are part of the Genus Pyrrhura all are very simular. I have a black capped conure. Pyrrhura in general are very simular but all have their own personalitys. Some are easy others not so much. They can be quite for a parrot. Nippy, stubborn, messy, playful, brave, high energy, loving, funny, cute, cuddley, and love water.

I too have had lots of pets. Birds are like no other pet you could have. Birds tend to be like toddlers and a puppy in a tiny bird body. They are so smart and think like no other. Birds are not for everyone. Go meet many play with them and don't have your heart set on one type. Find the bird that fits you. I love conures but they might not be the bird for you. Go meet some.
