Green cheek injury/recovery questions

Hello,
we have a 4 year old green cheek. On wed night I made a very dumb mistake and turned off the bathroom light and started closing it from the outside while she was sitting on the top of the door :(. That's a common sitting area for her but I totally did not see her. I heard her make a loud noise and also felt the door hit something and possibly even jamming her between the door frame and door. She did fly out immediately and was very shoot up and when I put her on my finger and placed her in her cage she went into her little bird hut (she never goes in during wake hours) and pressed up against the left side with her eyes closed. It was late in the evening and we were very worried (I felt so terrible about the accident) , she would open her eyes when we looked into the hut but she stayed there for a while. After she came out I just held her on my chest where she seemed comfortable. she wasn't making any sounds for the rest of the night. Put her back in the cage for night to rest, next morning she comes out of her hut but she's not making much noise. She seemed very low energy but she would eat and drink water.
Day 2 morning, she's making more noises now and still eating and drinking and also flying but flying lower. When I hold her and check her wings she doesn't seem like she's hurting or wincing when I touch her. On Day 1 morning I tried to use my finger to put her on the places I know she wanted to be so that she was conserving energy. On Day 2 she was climbing around her cage , but seemed a little slower. Evening day 2 she's acting more like herself, doing her preening and grooming, etc. But i can tell she's falling asleep earlier than usual as if she's really tired. We put her to sleep early and tried to keep the room warmer etc.

Day 3 she's definitely more vocal and 'normal' but definitely little lethargic. She makes more noises in the morning, also makes loud noises when someone is at the front door (though not as long in duration). She's not flying around as much at all so I know something is off - but she's eating and drinking as normal, just a little lethargic and looks like she takes more naps. For example, just now she tried to fly up to the top of the tv from the couch but looks like she instead landed on the tv console - so she has trouble flying for sure.

I am going to measure her weight today and take her to the vet as soon as I have a day off, in meantime is there anything else I could be checking for? She looks fine from the outside and no issues with her claws or with walking for sure.

Thanks for the help and apologies this was so long!!

I am so sorry this happened to your baby:( I would definitely take her to an avian vet as soon as possible since she could have a head injury. Until she is getting around better I would be careful with letting her fly since she seems to be having issues with that.
Sending healing wishes your way, please keep us updated.

Poor little baby, definitely only a vet can tell. She could have internal injuries or a broken bone.

Good luck to both of you... my heart is so heavy with worry. I know Terry and Cheryl feel the same. Cheryl, I know your Ebird is also a GCC, and... *sigh*... every time I see a Patagonian in distress, it just rips at my heart. I hope we get good news soon.

Me too, it makes me hurt for the poor birdy. I get so worried that then I start worrying about EB. I do hope we get a good news update.

Cheryl...

When Nicky first posted about Archie the Patagonian, I was beside myself with empathy... the happy resolution for Archie has warmed my heart so very much.

Hang in there, little conure.

I'm very sorry to hear about what happened. I'm glad you'll be able to get your baby into a vet to discovery what may have possibly happened or if there is any damage. I would definitely try to limit her flying or movement if possible, because if something is broken you may not want to agitate it further by accident.

I also recommend working on training your baby that being on top of a door is not an "okay" place to be. I have had to work with that with my IRN, and after a few months he knows there are certain places he can't be. I had someone almost slam the door while he was on top of it, and after that I didn't want to take any more chances.

Thank you all for the kind support.
Good news, vet gave her the all-clear! She was probably just badly bruised and shook up and is taking some time to get back to 100%. She is flying a bit more now and almost 95% as vocal as she usually is so we're happy to hear her chirps and tweets :).

Great news!.. Amazes me how inherently tuff these tiny lil critters can be and how quick they can rebound from injurys.. even serious ones. Best wishes!!

She's flying around more like normal now and vocal as ever.
My wife did mention something odd happened this morning - she said the bird wouldn't come out of her hut this morning when she took off the cage cover. My wife literally pulled her out of the hut and then the bird was normal but she's never not come out as soon as the cover is off. My wife said she panicked for a min since the bird wasn't moving.

Does anyones elses bird do something similar?
