I have wanted one for a year. I am still trying to make a final decision.

The current owner just wants to get rid of it. Shes selling a bonded proven pair for 300 and the babies for 80.

Why is the owner selling the babies for $80? It seems interesting to me. They're not exactly a difficult to acquire species by any means, but $80 seems... minimalistic? Almost like a, "please get these off my hands". But then again, I'm in Canada and the average GCC from a breeder starts at at least $200.

I think that if you're going to buy a baby, the best thing to do is to support a breeder who cares about the species and invests time into the babies to ensure they are well handled, cared for, and healthy before coming home. That they are weaned onto a healthy diet of veg and fruit, have fledged, and like to be handled. I'm not saying this person doesn't do that, but I agree, it seems like she really is just trying to get rid of the birds and they just go to whoever can buy them off her the quickest...

I just think if you've been wanting one for a long time, why not wait until you feel like you're comfortable with whom you're getting the bird from? If you are though, by all means go ahead. These are just my personal thoughts.

There's no guarantee they will, but I will say that the average GCC is a huge snuggle bug. So long as your cockatiels accept your conure, I would imagine the three would get along to a certain degree. And if the conure is accustomed to being around other birds, chances are they'll find some level of comfort being around them.

It's hard to say if adding another bird into the mix makes life easier or harder, because once again it just depends on the individual. I could have 20 Avery's and feel like it's less work than, say, two Shiko's. If you've wanted a conure for a long time, I would imagine that adding one would make you happy and that any work involved would be easy to dismiss. You've given great care to Jet and Rex, and I think you'd do a great job with a conure too.

A lot of the hesitation comes from the unknown, but you'll have to take a leap to find out any of those answers. If you're not 100% on board with another bird, you could always continue to wait it out until you feel like the bird you're bringing home is the right one for you. I felt a lot of hesitation before I got Shiko... I went from being hell bent on adding a second bird to feeling anxious and doubtful a few weeks before he got here. I wouldn't change him being in my life for anything now.

I wish you a great outcome, however you proceed! Good for you, for thinking it through and getting thoughts here.

I'm so glad you got her! Pictures please? I would be very careful having her around your tiels, I could not trust my GCC within reach of mine as he would hurt them. I hope they all learn to get along, but please be careful:)
